It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater’s Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Bishop Willie J. Dixon, Sr., Gordon, Georgia. Bishop Dixon passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022 in Macon, Georgia.
Funeral services were held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 12:00 NOON from the Freedom Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Scenic Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Bishop Willie Dixon was born in 1950 to the parentage of the Late Julian W. Dixon and the Late Annie Pearl Dixon. He was reared in Sandersville, Georgia. During his childhood years, he attended Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.
He was married He was married on May 18, 1969, to Mrs. Gussie Mae Dixon. They were married for 53 years, until his death.
At an early age, he learned many different trades. He began working at Central State Hospital (CSH). While working at CSH, he obtained a second job with Progressive Christian Academy School where he was Head of Maintenance. He retired from CSH with 34 years of service. He eventually began working with the Baldwin County Board of Education in the Transportation Department. He was an excellent small engine repair man.
He is survived by his loving wife: Mrs. Gussie Mae Dixon, his children: three daughters; Sabrina Dixon Stevenson, Kiesha Dixon, both of Milledgeville, GA and Elder Faye Hill, of Gordon, GA; two sons, Gairy Dixon, Sr. of Gray, GA and Willie Dixon Jr. of Gordon, GA; 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, mother in law, Ethel Anderson of Milledgeville, GA; sisters in law; Glenda (Patrick) Mosley of Milledgeville, GA, Angela Anderson of Macon, GA, Metrice Bateman of Milledgeville, GA and Tomeka (Corithian) Dennis of Milledgeville, GA.
