It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater's Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mr. John Willie McClin, Jr., Waycross, Georgia. Mr. McClin passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 11:00 AM from the New Life Fellowship Ministries Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment to follow from the Heritage Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville, Georgia.
John Willie McClin, Jr. of Sparta went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 8, 2023, at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital. John was born on June 24, 1964, in Sparta, Georgia to the parents of J.W. McClin, Sr. and the late Lena McClin.
John attended Hancock Central High School. He was very athletic in football, track, baseball, and boxing. He was very social and outgoing. He attended church at an early age and started preaching at the age of 14 years old. He went to Albany Junior College in Albany, GA for two years. He finished his training in auto mechanics in the Job Corp, prior to enlisting in the Army. John then worked as a correctional officer for fifteen years at River State Prison in Milledgeville, GA. He then worked at Baldwin State Prison in Milledgeville, GA. He then worked at Sparta Police Department for two years; served over 20 years in the United States Army where he retired as a Master Sergeant.
John was procceeded in death by his mother, Lena McClin; four brothers, Willie Lee Tucker, Bobby Lee Hargrove, Leory McClin, and John McClin; two sisters, Brenda McClin and Hollis McClin.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifteen years, Garnetta McClin; his father, John W. (Lou) McClin, Sr.; mother-in-law, Janie Coffie; two sons, Jonathan McClin, Jamaal Sanford; four daughters, Tammy (Jarvis) Johnson, Victoria (Daniel) Wright, Alexis McClin, Savannah Sanford; two stepsons, Dedres Coffie and Adrian Paisley; one God daughter, Laniah Patterson; five grandchildren, Jayla Johnson, Patricia Johnson, Madelyn Johnson, Chance Wright and Caiden Wright; four sisters, Linda (Sam) Williams, Lillian Veal, Gwendolyn Tucker and Pipper McClin; six sisters-in-law, Angela Butler, Patricia Tiger, Barbara Hunt, Michelle Bevel, Sherry Stanley, and Tracy Harris; three brothers, Chris McClin, Judea McClin and Josh McClin; three brothers-in-law, Terrance Bevel, Ronnie Croom and Donnie Croom; three aunts, Bessie (Alonza) Palmer, Daisy (Phemom) Nelson, and Gloria Jean McClin; four uncles, James (Anita) McClin, Bobby (Willie Mae) McClin, Linton (Daisy) McClin, Sam Devereux, Jr.; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. His family will always remember the good memories and how much he impacted their lives. His nieces, Deshonza Brown, Roysheena McClin and Kiara McClin always told him that he would be like a father to them if something ever happened to their father.
