It is with sympathy that the staff and management of Slater's Funeral Home, Inc. announce the death of Ms. Bettye Carolyn Brown Johnson, Warner Robins, Georgia. Ms. Johnson passed April 24, 2023.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 1:00 PM from the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment to follow.
Bettye Caroline Brown Johnson, daughter of the late Betty Louise Moore Parks and John Brown, Sr., was born on November 17, 1949 in Baldwin County, Georgia. She was a member of the J.F. Boddie High School Class of 1968.
At a young age, Bettye confessed her love for Christ and joined Oak Grove Baptist Church. She later attended Oak Level Baptist Church after getting married to the late Bobby Johnson and moving to Warner Robins, GA.
Bettye was the matriarch of her family. Due to her mother's untimely death, she began working to support her six siblings and only daughter at a young age. Her places of employment included Chaplain Wood Nursing Home, Green Acre Nursing Home, Peach State Nursing Agency, and Central State Hospital, which is where she retired from after 26 years of employment.
Bettye had a passion for helping people. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 523 in Milledgeville, GA and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 594 in Warner Robins, GA. She held several offices, including Post Six District President. She also served on several committees, including Georgia Girls State and Georgia War Veterans Home VA Representative.
On April 24, 2023, Bettye gained her heavenly wings, and the Lord called her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Johnson; one sister, Sarah Myrick; and one brother, Willie Parks.
Survivors include: one daughter, Tracey Boone (Chris) of Milledgeville, GA; three grandchildren, Patia Boone of Milledgeville, GA, Christopher Boone, Jr. of Macon, GA, Jasmine Boone of Atlanta, Georgia; a devoted nephew, Arlando Parks (Tony) of Brooklyn, NY; devoted sisters, Naomi Badmus of Warner Robins, GA, , Julia Young, Lisa Edet and Sherry Massey of Syracuse, NY, Lora A. Brown of Milledgeville, Georgia; brothers, John Brown and Michael Parks (Jacqueline) of Syracuse, NY, Jesse Parks (Denise) of Geneva, NY, Alvin Brown (Della) of Milledgeville, GA, and Phillip Parks of Sparta, GA; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives survives her.
