Mrs. Betty Calhoun, of Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Navicent Health, Macon, Georgia.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM from the Victory Baptist Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment followed in St. Mary Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 22, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Betty was called “Mother” “Nanny” and “B.J.”. She was born in Hancock County on December 9, 1943 to the late Myrtle Lundy Copelin and George Williams.
She was married to James Z. Calhoun until his death on August 16, 2017. Also preceding her death, a son, Otis L. Jackson, Jr.; a daughter, Nancy J. Jackson; a brother, Eddie L. Copelin and a sister, Mary Copelin.
Betty worked at Central State Hospital as a Pharmacology Nurse and a lead shift supervisor until she retired. Her passion was traveling, crafting, cooking and making cakes. She started catering meals and doing wedding cakes until she was unable to do so. Her pride and joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Bradford, Elaine Smith, and Vivian Mosley, all of Milledgeville, GA; brothers: Willie Copelin, Charlie Copelin, George Williams, all of Milledgeville, GA, and Johnnie Copelin of Augusta, GA; sister: Katie King of Decatur, AL, Jeanette Bell of Athens, GA, Rhunette Copelin, Addie (Willie) Griswald, Inez Bland, Rose Alice Holsey, and Johnnie M. Tucker, all of Milledgeville, GA; grandchildren , Keosha (Joseph) Gray of Athens, GA, Tramain Bradford of Athens, GA, Jasmine J. Jackson of Milledgeville, GA; Renardo Mosley and Donzo Mosley of Milledgeville, GA, Jasmine S. Jackson of Atlanta, GA, great grand children; Sa;Nyya Gray, Joseph Gray Jr., & Jordyn Gray, all of Athens, GA, Dallas Bradford, Mia Bradford, Talia Davis, all of Milledgeville, GA, Madison Milton of Atlanta, GA, and Carmella Mosley of Florida; special and loving cousin, Myra Curry of Milledgeville, GA; special and loving friend, Janet Ferguson of Milledgeville, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins survive her.
