Bessie Massey

It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater’s Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mrs. Bessie Massey, 89, of Milledgeville, Georgia. Mrs. Massey passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 1:00 PM from the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Slater's Funeral Home, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment followed in the Scenic Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville, Georgia.

Mrs. Bessie S. Massey was born on May 23, 1932, in Haddock, Georgia to the late Mr. Sammie Spikes and the late Mrs. Elvira Franklin Spikes. Mrs. Bessie committed committed her life to the lord at an early age, always giving God the glory and praise. She was a faithful member of the County Line Baptist Church where she served until her health failed. Bessie devoted her time in the care for others, to the love and support of her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She began serving her community by opening her own dry-cleaning service in the care of her home for over 40 years. Bessie was predeceased by her two sons: Mr. Thomas Massey, and Mr. Carlton Carlton S. Massey. She leaves her cherished memories to her loving grandchildren: Mr. Thomas (Demetria) Massey, Jr., Mr. Baicarre Anton Omar (Mennatallah) Massey Mohamed, Mr. Carlton Massey, Jr., Baucarre R. (Rachel) Finney, Ms. Latasha Reeves, Ms. Belinda Marshall; daughter-in-law: Sherry Massey; devoted niece: Mrs. Ethel Lewis; devoted nephews, the Stevensons; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
