On Friday, June 23, 2023, Barbara Reid-Henderson, 74, passed away after a hard-fought battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. She was born on September 16th, 1948, to Mrs. Lucile Reid in Milledgeville Ga. Barbara attended Boddie High School.

Barbara gave birth to her first child, Mr. Virgil Reid in 1966.  In the 1970's, she moved to New York City and landed her first job as an Assistant Nurse at Menorah Nursing Home in Brooklyn, New York. There she met her first husband, Mr. Charles Woodson, and went on to have her second son, Mr. Bryant Woodson, in 1972.  Barbara made a career change and became a hair stylist working for her Aunt Lois McMillan for many years. She excelled at being a hair stylist and loved fashion and cosmetology.

In the mid 1980's, Barbara returned to Milledgeville to raise her children surrounded by family and friends.  She also returned to the medical community and became a caregiver working at the Central State Hospital's Home for Veterans. There she met her second husband, Mr. Joseph Henderson.

Barbara was passionate about travel and adventure. She frequently visited family and friends in New York, Detroit, Virginia, North Carolina, and California. She prided herself on being available for others in times of need.  As reliable as a clock on a wall, she never missed an opportunity to provide advice or just a listening ear to all who sought her counsel. For those who knew her best knew "No worst enemy, and No greater friend".

Barbara attended Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church in Milledgeville, where she was a member for many years.

Barbara loved to fish and spend time at the lake filling her days with laughter and passionate conversations.  She loved hard and fought even harder for the things that were important to her.

We will miss her greatly. Barbara was predeceased by her mother, Mrs. Lucile James and husband, Mr. Joseph Henderson.  She is survived by her children Mr. Virgil Reid, Mr. Bryant Woodson, and Mrs. Kathleen Woodson (in-law); her siblings Ms. Lisa James and Ms. Patricia Colver, Mr. Michael Reid, and Mr. Johnny Clarence Glen; her grandchildren, Alexis, Olivia, and Jaden Woodson; her great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Noah, and Oliver; extended family Alice Mitchell LaConia Barnes, Shedrick James, Kierra Walker, Kemya Hall, Ahniya Walker, Arceilla Walker.
