Anthony Terrell Woolfork aka "Tony", "Big T", "Uncle Mack", was born on September 27, 1963 to the parentage of SSgt Roosevelt Woolfork Jr. and Katie Marie Morgan Woolfork at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Ramstein AFB in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The youngest of their four children, he passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
Tony played football in his senior year at Baldwin High School and graduated in 1981. he attended Fort Valley State University prior to continuing education at Georgia College as well as a brief employment at Baldwin County Hospital. Upon obtaining his B.S. degree, he honored his skills as a Counselor to the incarcerated with the Georgia Dept. of Corrections., retiring in 2005.
Tony knew and loved God. He and his sister, Carol, were baptized and joined Flagg Chapel Baptist Church together in 1998 where he served as an usher as well as a member of the Men's Choir. He loved socializing and joined several clubs and community organizations including the Evening Optimist Club, the B & C Civic and Social Club and the Masons. He volunteered as a Little League Football coach at the Recreation Dept. where he taught life skills as well as tackles. He enjoyed traveling; watching ball games, Court TV and Old School Music videos. He loved dressing up to attend church and dances just as much as casually hanging out with his "crew".
Tony loved family, friends, food and fun... and they loved him! In 2000, Tony faced the beginnings of a lengthy illness with courage and determination. His indomitable spirit shone ever more brightly as time progressed. Tony continued to be a source of inspiration to others. he often spoke of his wonderful childhood, his phenomenal memories of his many friends and adventures. His kindness, his communication skills and his spirituality were his greatest gifts to those who loved him. He expressed gratitude for every kindness; he was always upbeat and optimistic. He never complained. Somehow, you just felt better after visiting with him. His favorite quote was, " Things could always be better, but they could also be a whole lot worse."
Our beloved Tony was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Roosevelt III ("Rick"). He transitioned quietly to immortality leaving among his many friends and family survivors, sisters: Carol Woolfork Griswold and Sandra Woolfork Jones of Milledgeville, GA; Aunts: Vivian Woolfork Smith of Milledgeville, GA, Gloria Morgan Dunmeyer (Robert) of Charleston, SC and Delia Woolfork Taylor (John) of Fort Valley, GA; Devoted fulltime caregivers: Melissa Jones and family (Daevon, Yaasming, Aziza and Jessica), Joseph Jones, Roy Davis, Gussie Hunt Kelsey; Devoted Nieces and Nephew, Monique Vasser, Destiny and Danny Jones; Godson Marquitton Wilson; Godbrothers, Charles Lundy and Willie Williams; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
