It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater’s Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Alvin Wright of Milledgeville, Georgia. He passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

Deacon Alvin Wright was born March 30, 1946, in Baldwin County, GA to the parentage of Robert Lee Wright, Sr. and Mattie Lee Simmons Wright.

His parents preceded him in death.

Alvin received his education in the public schools of Baldwin County, GA. After obtaining his education, Alvin was gainfully employed at Central State Hospital. He retired after thirty-five years of service in the Maintenance Department.

Alvin was married to Geraldine Foston Wright. Their union would last for fifty-seven years until her death in December 2023.  

Alvin held his family near and dear to his heart. He was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church until the declining health of his beloved wife.

He served on the Deacon Board. Alvin was a member of the local Social & Saving Club. His hobbies included a love for riding motorcycles; he was also a car hobbyist. Along with his wife and parents, Alvin was also preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Foreman Fraley; brother, Kenneth Wright; grandson, Syee Havior; brothers-in-law, Joseph, Eddie, and Marion Foston; sister-in-law, Brenda Foston Ingram.

He leaves cherish memories to his son, Alvin Lamar Wright (Paula); six grandchildren, Taswanna, Teashia, Denerio, Jaquala, Seanqavious; devoted granddaughter, Latifa Wright; great grandchildren, Essence, Skylar, Karmyn, Zayden, and Amari; sisters, Elizabeth Middlebrook, Gloria Wright, Sylvia Wright, Jacqueline Wells, all of Milledgeville, GA, Clifforine Echnock of Detroit, MI; brothers, Ronnie Wright of Milledgeville, GA, Robert Lee Wright, Jr. (Sherry) of Jonesboro, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, also survive him.

He is survived by his loving family and friends.
