Mr. Alvin James Durden was a native of Milledgeville, GA. He was born on May 19, 1965, to the late Joan “Annie Ruth” Chester and the late Mr. S.D. Harper, Sr.

Alvin was called home to be with the Lord on May 22, 2025. He confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He joined Deliverance Church of Jesus Christ in Sandersville, GA on May 8, 2022, with guidance from his uncle/pastor Elder Tommy Barnes.

During his earlier years, Alvin attended Hancock Central High School. After graduating, Alvin worked various jobs learning different skills.

Alvin loved spending time with his family and attending family gatherings. Anytime his favorite artist “Michael Jackson” would play on the speakers, Alvin was sure to give you a show. As he would say “bat the ball”; that was his favorite dance! Alvin was fun to be around, and he would also put you in your place with love in mind. Alvin was in tune with his looks; you would often find him slicking his hair back and smiling.

Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, Joan “Annie Ruth” Chester, S.D. Harper, Sr.; father-in-love, Albert Chester; and his brother, Albert James Durden.

He leaves to cherish here in the earthly realm, his son, Devin Durden; his sisters, Bernice (Ronnie) Collier of Sparta, GA, Virginia (Charles) Hilson of Sparta, GA, Ruth Harper Havior of Milledgeville, GA; brothers, Dwayne Chester, Sr. of Macon, GA, Venson Chester of Sparta, GA, S.D.
