Alphonso Greene Obituary

Mr. Alphonso Gabriel Greene, affectionately known as “Sneaky” or “Al”, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.


Al was born April 1, 1962, in Jones County to the late Norman and Lizzie Greene. He was the youngest son of nine children. He was preceded in death by his siblings Katrina Greene and Vernon Greene.


He attended Jones County Public schools and graduated in the Class of 1980. He was employed at IHOP in Rome, Georgia and Cherokee Products in Haddock, Georgia for several years.


At an early age, Al accepted Christ and joined New Damascus Baptist Church.


Al's passion was cooking and sports. He loved being around family and friends. He was well known for his sense of humor. He most definitely was the comedian in the family.


Al leaves to cherish his everlasting memories: his daughters, Shanita Emory of Gordon, GA, Kamari Greene and Niajah Greene, both of Detroit, MI; three grandchildren, Rome Greene, Brandon Butler, and Mykel Butler, all of Detroit, MI; four sisters, Mattie Mae Greene of Haddock, GA, Vickie (Ronnie) Griswold of Haddock, GA, Meashell Greene of Macon, GA, and Anita Greene of Gray, GA; three brothers, Calvin (Shirley) Middlebrooks of Haddock, GA, Willie Louis Greene, Sr. of Gray, GA, and Jerry Lee of Beaufort, SC; two aunts, Ruth Ellison of Haddock, GA, Lizzie Mae Middlebrooks of Gray, GA; one uncle, Clarence (Velma) Greene of Haddock, GA; a host of nieces, including devoted nieces, Quita Greene and Mya Lindsey, nephews, cousins and friends.
