Mrs. Alice Louvenia Simmons was born in Milledgeville, GA on August 26, 1930; to the late Mr.
Tullie Simmons and Florence Harris Simmons. She departed this life on September 13, 2018.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM from Vaughn Chapel Baptist Church, Milledgeville, Georgia with Rev. Tony Fraley officiating. Interment followed in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Mrs. Alice married Mr. Samuel Sidney Lanier Morgan, December 14, 1947. From this union three children were born. They lived in Milledgeville until the early 1950’s moving to Atlanta, GA.
Alice was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her immediate family as well as to many other “embraced” family members. “Grandma,” as she was affectionately called at home and by many in the neighborhood was known for her cooking, gardening and homemaking skills.
Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her only son, Larry D. Morgan; three brothers: Roy Simmons, Joe Simmons and Harold Simmons.
She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters: Brenda Morgan Derricott, Hazel Morgan Slaton; three granddaughters: Alicia D. Evans, Columbus, Monica Jackson, Erika Slaton; great-granddaughters: Elexia Jackson, Morganne Jackson, Sidnae Slaton, Darsha Jackson, Colunda Evans, DeAunna Jackson, Lacetria Aycock; one great grandson: Samuel Slaton; two great-great-granddaughters: Kniya James, Kennedi Jackson-Freeman; one great-great-grandson: Kaleb James; two sisters: Agnes Johnson, Sarah Simmons Hill; two aunts: Isabel Hall and Lottie Harris; a host of nieces and nephews, a number of embraced family members including Daniel Culver, Charles Jordan, and Eddie Slaton.
