Albert Mitchell

Mr. Albert Mitchell, of Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Navicent Health Baldwin, Milledgeville.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 3:00 PM from the Northside Baptist Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment was held in Stanton Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Sparta, Georgia.

Albert (Brother) Mitchell was born on June 20, 1946 to the late Garfield and Essie Mae Mitchell. He was born in Devereux, Ga., where he attended the Hancock County School District. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Albert worked at Mc-Avoy brick where he retired after twenty years. He became a heavy equipment operator doing demolition for a construction company where he retired from.

During his youth in Devereux one of his favorites things to do was visit his Aunt Sara and pick on his cousin Mildred. He fashioned himself a comedian with a dry sense of humor joking and making people laugh. He was a man who loved to have fun.

He was known as Shakel-foot by his Family and close Friends. A name given to him for his amazing dancing skills. When he danced his feet would take over, he was the next James Brown in the making. And he was known to be a sharp dresser. His nickname was “Brother” which fittingly describes the warm, welcoming, affectionate smile always present when you met him.

Migrating to Pennsylvania, Albert had many life changing experiences but none greater than devoting his life to the LORD at age 33. The LORD did amazing work in his life and Albert never looked back. He hosted bible studies in his home where many souls gave their life to the LORD. Albert and his best friend Ike Phinnessee would dedicate their time and energy witnessing. Everyone he met received a tract and words about the LORD. Everything Albert did was in the name of the LORD even in his suffering he lifted up the name of the LORD and gave him all honor and glory. He believed God’s word at 2Tim. 2:12 If we suffer we shall also reign with him…

Preceding Albert in death his Mother and Father Garfield and Essie Mae Mitchell. His sister Lilian, his Brother Charlie Frank and two grandchildren Josh and Stevie. From his two marriages (both women deceased) Albert has nine children.

Albert is survived by his sons Timothy, Jonathan, Stephen, Elijah and Isiah. Stepsons Michael and Thomas. Daughters Candice and Naomi. One Aunt Sara Cummings. Ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews great nieces and nephews.
