Yalonda Yvette Larkin

Ms. Yolanda Yvette Larkin entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 22, 2019 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 10:00 AM from the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Slater's Funeral Home, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment followed in Saint Mary's Baptist Church Cemetery, Sparta, Georgia.

Yolanda Yvette Larkin was born in Pompano Beach, Florida on June 15, 1972. She was the eighth of 10 children born to Timothy Floyd Sr. and Georgia Mae Larkin and was educated in the Broward County School District. She obtained her CNA certificate in 2006 and was a faithful member of Gilgal Christian Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Yolanda was affectionately known as “Ma-Ma” by her family because she took care of everyone! She respected the lessons and values in which she was raised and wanted to extend those principles to everyone she met. She was the epitome of supportive. She was a shoulder to lean on, a listening ear, an advocate, and a true friend.  She loved children and took care of all her nieces and nephews as if they were her very own children. On June 9, 2009, after many prayers, Yolanda was blessed with an adorable baby boy that she named Mi'kel Nathaniel Larkin. She loved Mi'kel with all of heart and soul. She made sure she kept him close to the Lord by praying with him daily and taking him to church. Though she didn't always feel her best, she persevered so he can have a good childhood and enjoy his favorite activities.

Like her mother, Georgia Mae, who proceeded her in death, Yolanda knew it was better to give than to receive and in humility she counted others more significant than herself. On November 22, 2019, God saw that his daughter needed rest and called her home.

Those left to cherish her loving memories: Her loving son, Mi'kel, a devoted Father, Timothy Floyd Larkin Sr., grandmother, Bessie Lewis; Nine siblings: Georgia Ann Miller, Linda Diane (Frank) Washington, Johnny Floyd (Andrea) Larkin, Cora Lee “Lisa” (Eugene) Larkin, Leon (Ursula) Larkin, Patricia Lavern (Derrick) Farrow, Joseph Tyrone (April) Larkin, Timothy Floyd (Kimberley) Larkin Jr., and James D. (Gwendolyn) Larkin; Aunts: Annette Stanley, Betty Jackson, Brenda Hunt, Betty Ruth Brown, Julia Mae, Petronia Larkin, Carrie Mae, Ruhnette; Uncles:  Luther, Bobby, Lewis, Virgil (Mae), God-father, Julius Drayton. God-sisters: Iola, Connie James; God-brothers: Willie James Cheeley, Alex Cheeley, James (Lillie) Glover II, Sy-Ant Burns; Special friends: Mary Pearson-Edwards, Shannon Lofton, Jerome Sutton and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
