Mr. Tommie Jenkins, of 543 South Railroad Avenue, Harrison, Georgia passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 1:00 PM from the Harrison Spring Baptist Church, Harrison, Georgia. The body will lie in state from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service. Interment followed in the Harrison Cemetery, Harrison, Georgia.
On Friday, October 26, 2018, God in His infinite wisdom and divine mercy called our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend Tommie Lee Jenkins home to be with him. He freely and unconditionally touched the lives of many.
Today we pause to celebrate the life of a humble and gentle man known as Tommie who was born to the late Deacon J.B. Jenkins and the late Mrs. Lucy Mae Wiley Jenkins in Tennille, Washington County, Georgia.
He received his early education in the Washington County Public Schools graduating with the WACO Class of 1976. He was awesome athlete excelling in baseball as a pitcher. He was known as a powerful left handed pitcher traveling extensively throughout the southeast with several baseball teams of Middle Georgia.
His family remembers him as the life of the party, bringing laughter and joy to all of the family events.
He was united in holy matrimony to the late Mrs. Gail Duckworth Jenkins who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his two sons: Mr. Christopher (Jennifer) Duckworth, Mr. Bryant (Alexis) Jenkins, Sandersville, Georgia; three sisters: Mrs. Betty (Wade) Williams, Harrison, Georgia, Ms. Linda Bell, Ms. Lena Jenkins, Sandersville, Georgia; two brothers: Mr. Robert (Valerie) Jenkins, Tennille, Georgia, Mr. Richard (Audrey) Jenkins, Harrison, Georgia; a brother-in-law: Mr. Willie (Lee) Duckworth, Jr., six sisters-in-law: Mrs. Theola Jenkins, Wrightsville, Georgia, Mrs. Delores Warthen, Mrs. Connie (Johnny) Pinkston, Mrs. Barbara Ann Jackson, Ms. Betty Jean Griner, Mrs. Pamela Jackson, Sandersville, Georgia; five grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, several other relatives and friends.
