Sallie Kate Grimes

Mrs. Sallie Kate Grimes entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Navicent Health Macon, Georgia. 

Funeral services were held on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM from the St John CME Church, 504 College Street, Gordon, Georgia. Interment was held privately with the family.

Sallie Kate Grimes was born on April 4, 1935 to the parentage of the late Mr. Jim Lee Gotel and the late Mrs. Sallie Make Key. She was educated in Jasper County School System. At an early age, she moved to Gordon, Georgia where joined St John CME Church and dedicated her life to Christ. She worked many years as a bus driver for the Wilkinson County School System.

Sallie was a beautiful and kindhearted person who loved online shopping and spending time with her family. She touched the lives of many and was well known and loved.

God called his Angel home on September 7, 2018 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Sallie was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Charlie Grimes, Jr., eldest son, Mr. Jimmy Lee Jeffries, one brother, Mr. Charlie Shy, four sisters: Mrs. Lillie Lue Shy, Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Veal, Mrs. Geneva Cobb, Mrs. Mary Ann Anderson.

Sallie is a Queen that nobody can replace. We are grateful for each and everyday we had the chance to see her glowing smile. Although our hearts are saddened, the loving memories of our beloved "Sallie" will never leave our hearts.

Sallie is survived by her two sons: Mr. Eddie (Donna) Veal, of Springfield, MA, Mr. Shaun (April) Grimes, of Gordon, GA; three brothers: Mr. James (Alicia) Shy, Mr. John (Gloria) Shy, Mr. Peter (Darchear) Shy, all of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Mrs. Ophelia (Philip) Adams; nine grandchildren: Ms. Tatyanna Grimes, Mr. Kendauis Grimes, Mr. Javier Grimes, Mr. Brashawn Grimes, Mr. Adrian Jeffries, Ms. Michelle Jeffries Breaswell, Mr. Jimmy Lee Jeffries, Jr., Ms. Leasia Smith, Mr. Dominique Brezial; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Sallie also had three special friends: Willie Glover, Aunt Mattie Franklin, Annette Williams. We Would like to thank them for being "True Friends" for over forty years!!
