Roy Stanley

Mr. Roy Stanley, of 110 Summit Drive NE, Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on October 17, 2018 at Green Acres Health and Rehabilitation, Milledgeville, Georgia.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM from the Green Pasture Baptist Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment was held in Bone Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia.

Mr. Roy Stanley was born November 22, 1936, in Milledgeville, Georgia to Mr. Tommy Stanley Sr. and Mrs. Christine Flagg Stanley.

At an early age he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined the Green Pasture Baptist Church. Roy attended the Baldwin County School System in Milledgeville, Georgia, as well as the Wayne County School System in Detroit, Michigan. He also served four years in the United States Air Force (clerk typist). Although he spent many years in Detroit, Michigan, upon his return to Milledgeville, he resumed attending Green Pasture Baptist Church where he remained active until his death. He served in the role of a dutiful trustee in the church.

Roy was extremely family oriented and loved by all members of the family. He had a way with the children of the family (nieces, nephews, and grandchildren) and they all adored him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Johnny Stanley, Larry Green, and Charles C. Green. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Irene Stanley, stepson Joe (Barbara) Hill, grandchildren; Brandy D. Hill, Carlos Hill, and Brandon Lay, his siblings; Tommy (Jeanette) Stanley, Detroit, MI, Mary "Liz" Jenkins, Greenfield, IN, Willie Green, Milledgeville, GA, Lucious (Deena) Green, Louisville, KY and Gwendolyn (Julius) Wimby, Decatur, GA, and uncle Rufus (Sandra), Flagg, an aunt Martha Stanley both of Milledgeville, GA. He also leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
