Robert Lee Banks

Mr. Robert Lee Banks, of 389 Lanier Road, Holly Hill, South Carolina originally of Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019 in South Carolina.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 12:00 NOON from the Green Pasture Baptist Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment will follow in Scenic Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville, Georgia.

Mr. Robert Lee Banks was born September 8, 1940 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the parentage of Bennie Banks and Victoria Mallard Banks.

He joined in membership with the Greater Unity AME Church in Holly Hill, SC.

Robert graduated in from high school in 1960.  He then furthered his education by attending Allen University in Columbus, SC where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Education in 1965.

After graduating from Allen University he moved to Baldwin County, Milledgeville, Georgia.  He was employed by the Baldwin County Board of Education from September 1965 to May 1984. He taught several subjects which included math, science, health and other major subjects.

While in Georgia, Robert met and married Gladys Lawrence Hawkins.  This union was blessed with two children, Robin and Ingried Banks.

Robert relocated back to Holly Hill, South Carolina, where he was employed by Bambery Job Corp Center in Bambery,, SC from 1987 to April 1994.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings (Evangaline, Isabelle, Bennie Jr., Otis and David). His homegoing was on August 5, 2019.

He leaves to cherish his memories: children, Robin Saulsbury (Jerome, Sr.) and Ingried Banks-May; grandchildren, Ashley Saulsbury, Jerome Saulsbury, Jr., Jerrell Saulsbury, Kayla Justice and Dominic May; great grandchildren, Christa Saulsbury, Ashton Butts and Kyndall Saulsbury; siblings, Beatrice Green, Mary Banks of New Jersey, Jerry (Rosalind) Banks of St. Stephens, SC; Ernest Banks of Ramseur, NC; a special cousins, Gwendolyn James; a host of other family members and friends.
