Robert Preston "Bobby" Adams

Mr. Robert "Bobby" Adams, of 195 Ga Highway 24 East, Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Navicent Health Macon, Georgia.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the Friendship Baptist Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment followed in the Society Cemetery of Friendship Baptist Church.

Robert “Bobby” Preston Adams was born on February 18, 1947 in Milledgeville, Georgia to Ulysses Sr. and Christine Horton-Adams. Bobby received his education from Washington County Schools and Baldwin County Schools.

Bobby married Gussie Pearson on August 16, 1967 in Milledgeville, Georgia. This marriage was truly a match made in Heaven that stood the test of time. Together, they raised two children, Eric and Fredrick. Bobby and his family attended Friendship Baptist Church, where Bobby was a member of the WMB Society.

Bobby developed a love for farming from his grandparents, Jimmy and Anna Horton. He enjoyed raising his pigs and goats, as well as growing fruits and vegetables.  One of Bobby's joys was being able to share his homegrown food with his neighbors and friends. The hard work and dedication that Bobby learned from his grandparents was evident in his daily life.  Those same qualities he passed along to everyone who came in contact with him.

Bobby had a caring spirit, in which he showed his love for people in numerous ways. He had a deep love for family. He was known for his sense of humor.

As exemplified throughout his life working hard was a top priority. Not only was Bobby a self-made farmer, but he was also an entrepreneur and a school bus driver. Bobby enjoyed driving the school bus and being a mentor to the students that rode his bus. After 40 wonderful years, Bobby retired from Baldwin County Public School Transportation as a bus driver.

With a strong family entrepreneurial spirit, it was no surprise that Bobby started Adams Lawn Service. Bobby not only used his business as a way to provide for his family, but he also used it to teach and mentor his sons, nephews, and grandsons.

Bobby was preceded in death by three older brothers: Thomas Lee Adams, Willie C. Adams, Johnny Adams, and one younger sister Katrina Adams.

In his passing Bobby leaves many who loved him dearly and will always cherish delightful memories of him: his beloved wife Gussie Pearson Adams of 52 years; his two sons: Eric L. Adams and Fredrick B. Adams; two sisters: Reva Adams-Smith and Beverly Adams-McClurkin (Mack) both of Detroit, Michigan; two brothers: Ulysses Adams Jr. (Carolyn) of Detroit, Michigan and Charlie Adams (Havalyn) of Milledgeville, Georgia; six sister-n-laws: Mildred Garfield (Danny), Gennette Pearson, Rubye Johnson, Catherine Austin (Willie), Lillie Mae Harper (Billy), Jessie Mae Adams; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
