Mrs. Peggy Hill, of 1844 Timberlane Lane, Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Navicent Health, Macon, Georgia.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 1:00 PM from the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Slater’s Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Peggy Joyce Hill was born on January 28, 1947 in Pinetops, North Carolina the late Annie Lee “Gail” Staton and the late Robert Earl “Punch” Staton. She was preceded in death by older sibling, Betty Ann Royster (deceased) and she grew up with a close first cousin Willy Ray “Miles” Johnson. From 1961 to 1964, she attended Carver High School in Pinetops, North Carolina. She was a majorette in the school's marching band and she also played on the softball and basketball team.
She married Calvin Hill on August 31, 1974 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was a military spouse to her husband for twenty two years. Her most favorite pass time was cooking; she loved it. Her husband has oftened said that one of the reasons he married her was because, ”she made potatoes taste like meat.” With her love of good ole fashion cooking; she opened her own deli and named it Peggy's Deli. She loved wearing her wigs and putting on a pretty outfit or dress; but most of all she loved being in the kitchen preparing meals and playing her favorite songs with her head bopping, feet stomping and fingers snapping to the beat. Peggy truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She also loved going shopping at Christmas for her family, buying gifts for everyone and spending time with her grandchildren.
Peggy Joyce Hill, age 72 transitioned quietly and peacefully on early Thursday morning, August 15, 2019 at the Macon Medical Center in Macon, Georgia.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin Hill of forty-six years and five children: Ireland Staton and April Renee Staton (daughters), Donald Jeremiah Nicholas Hill, Calvin Hill, Jr, LeMarcus Antonio Hill (sons). She has six grandchildren with a grandchild deceased and one greatgrandchild along with a host of her family's nieces, nephews and friends.
