Ms. Monica "Pig" Harris, of 201 Tattnall Street, Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Harbor Grace Hospice, Atlanta, Georgia.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM from the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Slater's Funeral Home. The interment followed in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Ms. Monica Rose Harris, better known as “Pig”, was born in Patterson, NJ, on November 27, 1964 to the late Mr. Marion C. Harris and the late Mrs. Georgia Mills- Harris.
Monica later moved to Milledgeville where she took roots and ultimately started her family. Monica was educated in the Baldwin County School System. She enjoyed her time at Baldwin High School where she had many friends who understood that when she spoke, she meant business. She ultimately began working for the Central State Hospital where she spent many of her working years. Even when she was working, she always found the time to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. Although she never joined, she would enjoy an occasional Sunday morning service at Elbethel Baptist Church where she received the Word from the Lord.
Monica was known and loved by many. She was considered “the life of the party”. She lived her life to the fullest with no regrets. On Sunday, August 18, 2019, Monica transitioned to her heavenly home.
Her memory shall forever live in the hearts of those left behind. Monica is survived by her loving companion, Douglas Curry of Milledgeville, GA; her daughter, Ginger (Justin) Young of Milledgeville, GA and three grandchildren Javia Solomon, A'dia Harper, and A'Mora Howell, all of Milledgeville, GA; one sister, Vonda HarrisAndrews of Milledgeville, GA; one brother, Gregory (Linda) Harris of Detroit, Michigan; one aunt, Katie Duncan of Milledgeville, GA. She also leaves behind a devoted niece, Vonderia Andrews, a devoted nephew, Keyon Andrews, two god children, Lakesha and Keara Flournoy, one devoted friend, Willie Young and a host of other relatives and friends.
