Mamie Curry Obituary

Mrs. Mamie Curry, of 104 East Bank Street, Irwinton, Georgia passed away on June 20, 2019 at her residence.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the Parker Springs Baptist Church, McIntyre, Georgia with Rev. Eddie E. Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Brundage Mount Church Cemetery, McIntyre.

Mrs. Mamie P. Curry was born September 20, 1947 to the late Bessie Mae Palm and Charlie Palm, Sr.  She was preceded in death by her siblings Carrie Mae Stembridge, Dollie Simmons, Lizzie Mae Rayford, Charlie Palm, Jr., and Jimmie Palm.

Mamie P. Curry attended Calhoun High School.  Mamie P. Curry was employed at the Jet Store for ten years.  Mamie P. Curry retired as the Laundry Director at the Central State Hospital after being employed for over 35 years.

Mamie P. Curry was a devoted and faithful member of Parker Spring Baptist Church where she served as the church reporter, church secretary, and senior and junior choir director.  Mamie P. Curry was also a part of the Order of Eastern Star and the singing group Victoryaires.  She was also a part of the Wilkinson County Band Parent Committee.  She was a very kind woman with a gentle heart.  Mamie P. Curry was always willing to help people in any way she can.  She loved to sing, exercise, and cook for her family.

On Thursday, June 20, 2019, Mrs. Mamie P. Curry departed this earthly world leaving behind many cherished memories.  She is survived by her devoted husband, Harvey Curry; her children, Johnny Palm, Charlie Palm and Theresa Curry; as well as her step children, Linda Curry and Wendy Smith.  She is also survived by her sisters, Emma Wright, Annie Bell Goddard, and Fannie Goddard (Ralph).  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Pounds, Tiffany Palm, Levico Palm, Aaliyah Vasser, and Zhantavious Pearson; a host of great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
