Mr. James Thomas Trawick, known as "Sport Trawick" of 162C Blacksprings Road, Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM from the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Slater's Funeral Home. Interment was held in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Our father Mr. James Thomas Trawick, known as “Sport Trawick”, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2018 at his residence.
James Thomas Trawick was born February 24, 1930 in Baldwin County to the parents of George Trawick and Mrs. Hattie Sue Hunt Trawick. Five of his siblings preceded him in death.
At an early age, he joined Saint Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church.
James was an average fisherman and hunter. He loved his animals. He was well known throughout the community. Sport, as he was affectionately called, was a joy to be around. Mr. Trawick attended Warren Chapel School and later moved to Detroit.
James worked for the Department of Labor for several years and later was employed for Central State Hospital as a Forensic Service Technician. He retired in June 1990 serving 34 years.
On October 2, 1952 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served eighteen months in Korea. Upon leaving Korea, he was appointed state side until discharged. James met Lois Jean Davis and was married on December 15, 1956. To the union, two children were born.
James enjoyed his life and family. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Mrs. Lois Jean Trawick, three children: Mr. David (Carol) Trawick, Mrs. Linda (Marcus) Ingram, both of Milledgeville, GA, Mr. David Michael Reed, of Moultrie, GA; three grandchildren: Joy Trawick, Johnathan Trawick, Marcus Ingram, Jr.; two great grandchildren: Jace, Ja; three sisters-n-law; four brothers-n-law; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, cousins, several other relatives and friends.
