Mr. J.B. Lewis, of 2947 Columbia Street, Lot 31, Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral services were held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM from the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Slater's Funeral Home. Interment was held in the Second Darien Baptist Church Cemetery, Sparta, Georgia.
Mr. J.B. Lewis, was born July 28, 1922 in Sandersville, Washington County, Georgia to the late Mr. Hardie Lewis and the late Mrs. Lillie Ruth Taylor Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was reared in the Deepstep Community of Washington County where he attended school and church at the Mount Sinai Baptist Church. He was a part of a Christian family being taught to respect his elders and cherish and appreciate life. He and his family worked hard in the cotton fields and pecan groves where he obtained his work ethics.
He was employed for many years as a school bus driver in Washington County, Georgia. After his tenure as a bus driver, he worked many different jobs, most notably as a welder.
Mr. Lewis and his life partner Mrs. Sarah Spencer dedicated their lives to rearing their children and helping others.
On December 22, 2018 Mr. Lewis finished his course. He is preceded in death by several siblings.
Cherished memories shall cling to the hearts of his beloved family; his daughter, Ethene Lewis; three step-daughters: Annette (Ronald) Flournoy, of Milledgeville, GA, Brenda Broomfield, of Sandersville, GA, Patricia Spencer, of Atlanta, GA; three step-sons: Ronnie Spencer, of Milledgeville, GA, Johnny (Cheryl) Spencer, of Sandersville, GA, James (Lenora) Spencer, of Sparta, GA; three grandchildren: Angela Lewis, Markevious Williams, Summer Lewis, all of Sandersville, GA; three great grandchildren: Remir Haynes, Indya Lewis, Cameryn Ross, all of Sandersville, GA, several other relatives and friends.
