Gregory Lee Sanford

Mr. Gregory Lee Sanford, of 128 Cambridge Drive North, Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Navicent Health Baldwin.

Funeral services were held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 12 noon from the Elbethel Baptist Church, 251 North Irwin Street Milledgeville, Georgia. The interment followed in the Scenic Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville, Georgia. 

Mr. Gregory Lee Sanford was born on July 26, 1956 in Milledgeville, Georgia to the late Mr. John Thomas Sanford and the late Mrs. Madelean Walls Sanford.

He was reared in Baldwin County and was a part of the 1975 Class of Baldwin High Schools. At an early age he joined and was baptized to El Bethel Baptist Church. In his later years he joined God Holy Temple of Five Ministry, Macon Georgia.

After high school he went on to serve in the United States Armed Forces with the Georgia National Guard for 14 years. He was discharged honorably as an E-1 Sergeant. For sixteen years he was employed with Central State Hospital on a Property Control Supervisor. Finally he found his passion as a commercial truck driver for 22 years until his health declined.

He had a passion for a well manicured yard. Socially he enjoyed fellowshipping with family and friends. He was often reminisced of his love for his children and siblings.

Mr. Sanford entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Navicent Health Baldwin with his wife,

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mr. Roger Sanford.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Mrs. JoAnne Simmons Sanford; one daughter, Mrs. Katrina (Keith) Williams, of Gray, GA; six sons: Mr. Sulecio Sanford, of Nashville, TN, Mr. Jermell (Patricia) Veal, of Newport News, VA, Mr. Gregory Victor (Wanda) Sanford, Mr. Roger Sanford, both of Milledgeville, GA, Mr. Craig Legrego Sanford, Mr. John Thomas Sanford, both of Macon, GA; five sisters: Mrs. Barbara (Gerald) Jackson, Mrs. Evelyn Haynes, Mrs. Johnnie Mae (Ronnie) Turner, Ms. Bessie Gaye Lewis, all of Milledgeville, GA, Ms. Lillie Caroll, of Putnam Beach, FL; two brothers: Mr. Ralph Sanford, of Bradenton, FL, Mr. Robert Gilbert, of Savannah, GA; two aunts: Mrs. Maude Ingram, of Devereux, GA, Mrs. Rosa Mae Franklin, of Atlanta, GA; one uncle, Mr. Tyree Walls, of Atlanta, GA; fifteen grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, several other relatives and friends.
