Earnestine Harden Obituary

Mrs. Earnestine C. Harden, of 1130 N Wayne St. Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at her reisdence.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 1:00 PM from the Flipper Chapel AME, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment was held in Bone Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia.

Earnestine Canty Harden, affectionally known as "Boosie," was born May 28, 1947, in Wilkinson County, Toomsboro, Georgia, to the parentage of the late Odum Canty, Sr. and the late Annie Lewis. She was reared by the late Mrs. Alma Jordan from elementary school through high school.

She received her formal education in the public schools of Baldwin County, Georgia, graduating from the J.F. Boddie High School 1966. In addition, she attended Albany State College.

Shortly thereafter, she gained employment with the Georgia Department of Human Resources at Central State Hospital. She retired there after 30 plus years of faithful service. After retirement, she continued her purpose and passion in life of caring for others at a local senior retirement home.

Earnestine was united in matrimony to Mr. John Harden on January 30, 1976. From this union, two children were born: Amita A. and John W. and Marcy.

She attended Flipper Chapel AME where in later years she joined the church family. In, addition, she song in the choir at the church.

Earnestine was a kind person who was considered to be "down to earth" by those who loved and knew her. Her presence will be sorely missed.

In the morning on Tuesday, February 26th, Earnestine made a peaceful exodus after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents: Odum Canty, Sr. and Annie Lewis and a sister, Annie Ruth Jackson.

Earnestine is survived by her husband, Mr. John Harden, Jr. of 43 years; her children: Amita A. Harden, of Atlanta, GA, Marcy (Reggie) Womble, and John Harden III, both of Milledgeville; a son-in-love, Anthony Hooper; a daughter-in-love, Valeka Franklin; five sisters: Christine Canty, Eva Harris, Leatha Williams, all of Milledgeville, GA; Lois, of Atlanta, GA, and Brenda, of California; four brothers: Odum (Jeanette) Canty Jr., Jessie Canty, Arthur B. Canty, and Arthur (Robin) Terrell, all of Milledgeville, GA; two grandsons: Caless Davis, of Washington, and Corey Womble, of Milledgeville; and several other relatives and friends survive her.
