Mrs. Dorothy Brown Harden, of Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Navicent Health Baldwin, Milledgeville.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 10:00 AM in Scenic Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Mrs. Dorothy Brown Harden, affectionately known as “DOT” made her transition from life to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 9, 2019.
On May 20, 1940 Dorothy Brown was born to the late Mr. Earnist and Aline Trawick Brown in Hancock County. Her parents preceeded her in death along with her husband Willie Harden; three brothers, Jimmy Lee Brown, Willie Brown, Earnist Brown Jr.; three sisters, Clara Foston, Lizzie Coleman and Mary Ann Black.
Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age and joined Second Beulah Baptist Church. She was a faithful member until she moved to Hackensack, New Jersey. Dorothy was educated in the Hancock County School System. She furthered her education in cosmetology in Atlanta and became a beautician. Dorothy moved to New Jersey and worked for People / United Jersey Bank for 20 plus years as a check coder. While in New Jersey, Dorothy joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church where Reverend Jackson was the pastor. Her favorite scripture from the bible was the 23rd Psalm, she loved to read and had a passion to bowl which she did every Friday night with friends. Also, she loved caring for her two dogs, “Blackie and Fiesty”. In 1988 Dorothy moved back to Milledgeville, GA and began working for Central State Hospital. Dorothy worked at Central State Hospital as a certified nursing assistant until her retirement.
Cherished memories will always be in the heart of her family and friends. Dorothy is survived by a brother, Eric Brown and wife (Cynthia Brown); two aunts, Georgia Trawick and Betty Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends. Also, three longtime friends including Chris Bank, Yvonne Carlton, and Brenda Pettiford from New Jersey. “DOT” was cared for and loved by all.
