Deacon Sylvester Allen Obituary

Deacon Sylvester Allen, of 157 Highview Road, Milledgeville, GA  31061 passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at his residence.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM from the Freedom Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment was held in Mitchell Zion Church Cemetery, Union Hill Church Road, Milledgeville, Georgia.

Sylvester “Vet” Allen was born second eldest on April 27, 1958 by the love of Fannie Mae and Robert Lee Allen Sr. He spent a couple of years in Chicago with family before returning home to Georgia. In Sylvester’s journey through life he met and married the love of his life Brenda Jean Stembridge Allen. Within that holy matrimony five kids were born. He was close with his family and spent many days cooking and laughing around the grill in their company.

Sylvester worked at Meadows before going off to work at the Engelhard Corporation Plant in Wilkinson County Georgia. Sylvester work hard so that he was able to provide for his family and love ones.

Sylvester was a member of Mitchell Zion Baptist Church where he served on the deacon board, an usher on the usher board, he was a Sunday School teacher, and one of Wednesday night prayer meeting leaders. He also provided services for the up keep and maintenance in the church. He went and visited the sick at the nursing homes where he brought comfort with song and prayer.

Sylvester leaves his love and memories to his beautiful wife of 38 years Mrs. Brenda Jean Allen; his 5 children, De’Antwan Allen, Loalmonzo (Ashia) Allen, Wytasha Allen, Shrico Allen, Latoya (Herman) Wright; His bonus baby Demarcus Davis; 2 brothers, Charles (Philis) Allen, Kelly Allen; 3 sisters, Catherine (Thomas) Stewart, Wytina (Bruce) Jackson, Maxine Reaves; 13 grandchildren, Drecarious Worthen, Davion Allen, Erica Satcher, Deniyah Shinholster, Aubrey Allen, Jeremiah Allen, La’ Torreo Allen, Kah’ Miayah Allen, Ta’ Rennzo Allen, Mah’Kiyiah Allen, Shyreana Allen, Jaquez Womble, Chironnah Reid; His Uncles and aunts, Melton Veal, Timothy (Lucille) Veal, Louis Whisby, Freddie (Shirley) Veal Sr., Emma Wilson, Annie Lee Allen, Lucille Solomon, Lorean Beal, and Eloise Veal, ViolaWillis; 5 brother in-laws, Henry Stembridge Jr. (Marge) Johnny Stembridge, Rev. Charlie Frank (Sharon) Stembridge, Horace (Abigale) Stembridge, Finest Stembridge; 3 sister in-laws Mary (Deacon Allen) Veal, Martha (Johnny) Evans, Geraldine Allen; several nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and many special people he was grateful to befriend.

Sylvester was proceded in death by his brother Deacon Robert Lee Allen Jr., One sister in-law Lillar Mae Walker two brother in-laws Mr. Ulysses Reaves Sr., and Rufus Stembridge.
