Deacon Booker T. Johnson, Jr., of Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Green Acres Nursing Home, Milledgeville, Georgia.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM from the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Booker T. Johnson, Jr. was born on December 18, 1943 in Milledgeville, Georgia to the parentage of the late Booker T. Johnson, Sr. and Iona Speights Johnson.  On September 15, 2019, God saw that Booker T. had well fought the battle, victory had been won, and He called him home to glory. “Bru” as he was affectionately called by his family was the pillar of the family and was loved and admired by all who knew him. A strong work ethic was instilled in him at an early age which stayed with him for the rest of his life.

Deacon Booker T. Johnson graduated from Boddie Jr. High School in 1961. He loved working in the STEM areas, receiving various awards and achievements in Science, Technology and Agriculture. Deacon Johnson received an Associate's Degree in Technology from Walker's Community College in Jacksonville, Florida in 1963. With this education, he would later become a Farmer, a Licensed Electrician, and an Entrepreneur. Deacon Johnson was an Electrician at J.P. Stevens and later at McGraw Laboratories. He was also the owner of Johnson Antenna Service. His most recent business venture for the past 25 years was being the owner of The Kuntry Store located on Sparta Highway in Milledgeville, Georgia. Deacon Johnson found joy in gardening and nature. Each summer, he looked forward to planting and harvesting vegetables. Every fall, he enjoyed spending time in the Great Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, TN.

Deacon Johnson was a dedicated Christian, Father, Sibling and Friend. Deacon Johnson was a Deacon of the Oak Grove Baptist Church for 53 years and Chairman of the Deacon Board for 25 years.  Deacon Johnson  leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife for 56 years, Mar Thomas Johnson, daughters Angelia (Carlos) Patrick of Brunswick, GA; Cynthia (Dennis) Poole and Debra Johnson, both of Milledgeville, GA; Beverly Gail (Erwin) Stewart of Forsyth, GA; Keisha (Rod) Ray of Hampton, GA and Marilyn Hough of Milledgeville, GA; one son, Darryl Hough of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Mary Jewel Bennett of Clinton, SC and Shirley (Willie) Styles of Milledgeville, GA. Ten devoted grandchildren; Corey Stewart, Antonio Poole, Darien Poole, Jaylan Patrick, Alivia Stewart, Taylor Ray, Brandon Patrick, Tasha Hough, Angelique Hough, and Darryl Hough Jr.; A devoted family friend, Joe Johnson.  He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
