Our beloved mother was born Miss Clara Bell Kemp the daughter of the late Mr. John Wesley Kemp and the late Mrs. Gussie Jones Kemp. Her public school education began at Friendship School which has been demolished. All of her Christian education, Christian experiences and service has been dedicated to serving God. While on the journey of life she always acknowledged God and He directed her path. At twelve years old she joined Friendship Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Hezekiah Nelson. During those days church service was held monthly on the second Sunday and Sunday school was held every Sunday. They walked to all church and school functions. She always enjoyed participating in the church activities and was faithful and committed until the end of her earthly life. Our beloved mother entered rest, peacefully, on Monday, October 29, 2018.
Early in life she was joined in marriage to the late Mr. Randall Williams and two children were born to this union. That marriage ended and a few years later she united in marriage with the late Mr. Cecil (Mr. Petro) Eugene Pearson, SR and they were blessed with seven children. Gone to be with the Lord are four children Johnny Lee Williams, SR, Geraldine Pearson-Hill, Eugene Pearson, JR and Betty Ruth Pearson.
As Mother Pearson stated,” I made a Home for my children. Parents must understand that children need to feel secure and loved.” She was the breadwinner in her home and proud of it. After twenty-one years of employment at Central State hospital she retired as a supervisor in food service Diet Department. Mother Pearson also worked in the nursery at the Presbyterian Church. Her work ethics were commendable.
