Mrs. Betty Hurst Clark, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Navicent Health Macon. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of All Faiths, Milledgeville, GA. Interment was held in the Bundrage Cemetery, Milledgeville.
Mrs. Clark, affectionately known as “Bet-Bet” to her great grandchildren, was born in Sandersville, Georgia on June 12, 1955 to the parentage of Ms. Jennie Bryant and the late Mr. Robert Hunter.
After completing her formal education in the Washington County School System, Betty went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse through the Washington County Hospital Nursing Program and also received an Associate Degree from Georgia Military College where she was inducted into the Phi Kappa Theta International Honor Society.
She made her home in Baldwin County and worked at Central State Hospital for many years. It was here that she met and became a part of the Ray Family and met the love of her life Mr. Wiley Clark.
Betty accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and joined Union Missionary Baptist Church where she found the rest of her extended family. She was very active in her service to the Lord. She was a prayer warrior, devotional leader, Vice President of the Combined Choir, Coordinator of the area Combined Vacation Bible School Program, Sunday School member, Recording Secretary of the Union Aide Society, Secretary of the Hancock Missionary Baptist Association and served in any other capacity wherever and whenever she was needed.
Betty was a great cook and baker. She loved cooking many traditional dishes and especially her “broccoli casserole”. She enjoyed helping others even though she would often be in pain herself. She a person that people enjoyed being around. She was fun-loving and kind and was known to crack a joke and fuss with you. No one she met was a stranger to her . She leaves many memories for her loved ones to cherish.
On Tuesday morning, July 2, 2019 our beloved Betty journeyed to her heavenly home. She will always be cherished by her loving husband, Mr. Wiley L. Clark; her devoted children, her daughter, Mrs. Stefanie (Trevis) Ransom, Milledgeville, Georgia; her son, Mr. John (Mikisha) Gordon, Sandersville, Georgia; her mother, Ms. Jennie Bryant, Sandersville, Georgia; her grandchildren Mr. Krishun Williams, Mr. Shavoris Williams, Milledgeville, Georgia; Mr. Joshua Gordon, Sandersville, Georgia. Her beloved great-grand children, Skyler, Cyniya and Aubrey; Brothers, Mr. Edwin Hurst, Mr. Tony (Patricia) Bryant, Sandersville, Georgia; Mr. Bernard (Johnnie Mae) Bryant, Lakewell, Florida. Stepchildren, Lashonda Clark, Shontai Clark, Kimberly Holliday, Gail Clark, Deborah (husband) Rayford, Curtis Clark, Michael (Cindy) Clark of Warner Robins, Georgia; Travis (Teresa) Holiday, Dublin, Georgia; Kawanda (Derrick) Webb, Atlanta, Georgia. Sisters-in-law, Lavonne Rocquemore, Warner Robins; Shirley Ann (Joseph) George, Perry, Georgia; Brothers-in-law, William Ibory, Warner Robins, Georgia; Henry (Faye) Clark, Milledgeville, Georgia; Harold (Jeanette) Haslem, Atlanta, Georgia; Ricky Johnson, Albany, Georgia; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
“Mama” Lorene Ray and all of the Ray Family; the children who knew her as “Auntie Betty”; and her dear friend Clara Nelson and many others will cherish her memories.
