Michael Simmons, AKA “Preacher”, was born June 20, 1961, to the parentage of James Lewis Simmons and Mattie Lee Simmons.
Michael attended the public schools of Baldwin County. He was able to obtain his GED. After acquiring his education, he obtained employment from various businesses and organizations, including Lawson Lawrence, Batchelor’s Tree Service, Central State Hospital, and Georgia College & State University. He also served as his own businessman by providing independent landscaping and lawn care services for his customers. Michael was a very special man who loved his family. He was a great provider and a hard worker. He was a person who was very much loved by his family and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Calvin Simmons; stepsons, Robert May and Roderick May.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Betty Webb-Simmons (together for 36 years and married for 10 years); children, Carlos Simmons, Travis Grable (Tracie), Anthony Grable (Jessica), Tameka Grable; stepson, Rodney May; brothers, James Simmons, Jr. (Sadie), Charlie Simmons, Ronnie Simmons, Larry Simmons, all of Milledgeville, GA, Carl Simmons of Gray, GA, Adam Simmons of Australia; Roland (Michelle) Simmons of Des Moines, Iowa; sisters, Rosalyn Gail Simmons of Philadelphia, PA, Sandra Hooks (Calvin) of Milledgeville, GA; grandchildren, Jacob Butts, Jamond Butts, Antavious Grable, A’kari Grable, Tylex May, Mason May, Maliya May, Kemauri May, Brianna May, Roderick Lamar May, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
