Beulah Fleming Obituary

Mrs. Beulah Fleming, of 160 Oak Avenue, Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019 in Loganville, Georgia.

Funeral services were held on Thursday June 20, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the County Line Baptist Church, Haddock Georgia. Interment was held in Scenic Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville, Georgia.

At an early age, Beulah attended Jones Chapel AME, where she gave her life to the Lord. Education to Beulah was paramount.  She graduated with honors from Boddie High School, class of 1970.  To further her studies, Beulah attended Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia, where she graduated in 1975, with the degree of Bachelor of Science, holding the highest honor of Valedictorian.  In 1989, Beulah earned her Master's in Public Administration graduating as Salutatorian.  To extend her love of education and history, Beulah worked as a substitute teacher, teaching high school history classes in her spare time.

On August 18, 1973, Beulah was joined in holy matrimony to her high school sweetheart Willie James “Pigeon” Fleming.   Married for 45 years but together for more than 50 years, Beulah was always a kind, loving, sincere, and giving wife.  Together Poochie and Pigeon had two beautiful daughters, Stacy and Daveta.  She treasured her daughters and embraced every moment with them.  Beulah especially loved her role as Grandmother to her dearest grandson, Eric, who she nicknamed “Chucky”.   Beulah had a vivacious personality and always spoke her mind and truth.  She was known for bringing laughter and joy to everyone around her. Always the fashionista, Beulah was known for her keen fashion sense and style.

Beulah worked for the Georgia Department of Corrections at Baldwin Correctional Institute (the Women's Prison) as a correctional officer.  Ultimately working her way up the ranks to Sergeant. She later transferred to Scott State Prison where she worked as a Senior Counselor and retired from the State of Georgia with over 35 years of service.

Our beloved Beulah was a good and faithful daughter, sister, wife, mother, auntie, cousin, and friend.  Beulah Elizabeth Fleming entered into rest on June 13, 2019, with her loving husband, daughters, and son in law at her side.  An angel of mercy rescued her from a world of pain and earth's sorrow to Heaven's joy and eternal reward.

Beulah is survived by her loving husband, Willie J. Fleming; two daughters, Stacy Fleming and Daveta Fleming Harrell (Peter) both of Atlanta, Georgia; grandson, Eric Bolston Jr. (LaMaya) of Milledgeville, Georgia; siblings, Dorothy Downing, Harvey T.
